For sale is a ball shaped cane or umbrella handle made by Meissen in the 19th century . It is hand painted with a very high quality detailed Watteau style scene on the top part with nice gilding surrounding the scene and the hole on the bottom. The rest of the piece has that amazing deep cobalt blue ground color to it. The piece displays nicely but has been used as intended so it has some wear to the glaze over the cobalt blue and rough spot right in the top center in the ladies face. It's not overly visible unless you look up close so if you used it it would still look stunning! The hole has a stick glued into it which is very solidly in there and won't budge. This covers the mark that would be inside the hole as in the other examples I own of this type. But it is obviously Meissen. The handle is 1.5 inches in diameter and the stick is a bit over 0.25 inches in diameter. Griff Stockgriff German Germany
