This is an antique sewing box. Made circa 1860 or 1870 of wood with a two tone purple felt lining. The top is inlaid with stringing and cut steel decoration within antler panels. It has a working lock and key . The back of the lid is mirrored . The box has 8 sections. There are 5 lidded boxes and 3 open boxes . The tops of one of these is a felt needle holder. The box is footed. There is a loss of veneer, inlay, distress and a crack to the mirror and the base see photos. Overall the box is in useable condition.
