Erwin von Grüner (1925-2001) is one of the most famous German guitar makers! He was born in Teplice. His father was an instrument maker and also had his own musical instrument shop. In 1951, his family moved to Bavaria, where Erwin von Grüner began working in a musical instrument factory owned by Fred A. Wilfers. The factory specialized in making violins. Soon afterwards, in 1954, he opened his own workshop in Baierdorf and specialized in building guitars.
Grüner is very well known for his inventions such as the double resonance guitar and his innovative approaches to guitar building.
