• Beschreibung: Drei Blätter mit Darstellung des Arbeiterstreiks in Paris aus der Zeitschrift "L'Illustration" vom 11. August 1888. Darunter eine Szene der aufständischen Limonadenhersteller, die das "Café du Danemark" zu stürmen scheinen. Daneben eine Szene aus dem Gewerkschaftshaus, in welchem sich die Streikenden zu organisieren scheinen und Reden abhalten. Zuletzt eine Szene in der Avenue Lamothe-Piquet in Paris, wo Demonstrierende ein Pferdegespann umgestürzt haben und sich in Auseinandersetzungen mit nahenden Polizisten befinden. Das Jahr 1888 bezeichnet den Beginn einer großen Streikwelle. Auf Grund des weltweiten, rapiden Konjunkturanstiegs, der die jahrelange sogenannte Große Depression zu beenden schien, entwickelte sich ab 1888 eine in ihren Ausmaßen bisher unbekannte Streikwelle, in Frankreich.

• Zustand: Guter Zustand. Die Blätter weisen zum Teil blasse Stockflecken und Verfärbungen auf, die Ecken sind bestoßen. Der linke Rand der Blätter ist durch das Heraustrennen aus einer Bindung beschädigt. Die Darstellungen werden hierdurch nicht beeinträchtigt.

• Description: Three sheets depicting the workers' strike in Paris from the magazine "L'Illustration" of 11 August 1888. Below a scene of the rebellious lemonade manufacturers who appear to be storming the "Café du Danemark". Next to it, a scene from the union hall where the strikers seem to be organising themselves and holding speeches. Finally, a scene in the Avenue Lamothe-Piquet in Paris, where demonstrators have overturned a horse-drawn carriage and are engaged in clashes with approaching policemen. The year 1888 marks the beginning of a great wave of strikes. Due to the rapid worldwide economic upswing, which seemed to end the so-called Great Depression that had lasted for years, a strike wave of unprecedented proportions developed in France from 1888 onwards.

• Condition: Good condition. The leaves partly show pale foxing and discolouration, the corners are bumped. The left margin of the sheet is damaged by being detached from a binding. The illustrations are not affected by this.
