For sale is a faience figurine of a lady reading a book
made by one of the French faience makers in the 18th century . It is
hand painted very simply and elegantly. The figure has good detail
as can be expected from a quality maker of this period. The piece is
in good condition but the head seems to have been off as was the right
arm but the restoration is so superb it is very hard to even figure out
what exactly was wrong. Her right thumb is a bit odd shaped but might be
original that way. Also two mostly paint chips to the book and one to
the back of her cloth. Two very shallow small chips to the base
underneath. It is marked as shown with a mark used often to
copy that well known German maker . Also two incised lines. The figurine is 7.625 inches tall,
2.75 inches wide and 2.75 inches deep. Fayenze Luneville Nackte Frau Dame Frauenfigur
