For sale is a superb potpourri vase made of biscuit
porcelain by Mennecy in the 18th century . An amazingly detailed piece
with the detailed handles, the holes for the scent to come out of as
well as the relief design to the paste but the best part is all those
tiny applied flowers. If you consider that each leaf and petal was
individually made by hand it is simply amazing! The piece is made of
softpaste porcelain and thus quite a bit thicker than real porcelain
would be. Still has that warm white color though which makes soft paste
so popular. The piece is in good condition with the one handle being
broken and reglued at the top with a small chip but the applied flowers
have a some damage and lots of missing flowers as shown. The lid has a
hairline to it which one can see from the underside and some glue
residue. I know a good restorer could fix the missing flowers but it
would involve a lot of work. It does still display nicely and is a very
rare piece and worth having for sure! The underside is a bit uneven so
it wobbles a bit. The piece is not marked but I am certain it is by
them! The urn and lid are 6.75 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide and 4 inches
deep. French France Duftvase
