D. W. Griffith directed this epic of the French Revolution starring Lillian and Dorothy Gish with a platoon of supporting players from the Griffith stock company. From a film sales catalog: “Mamaroneck, NY became Paris of the 1700’s and the surrounding countryside was transformed into a picturesque French landscape. THE TWO ORPHANS a favorite of the 1900’s intrigued D.W. Griffith, but it wasn’t big enough for him. To establish atmosphere, he borrowed liberally from Charles Dickens and we area presented with a marvelous mixture of THE TWO ORPHANS and A TALE OF TWO CITIES.”

This 8mm B&W print from an unknown source comes mounted on two plastic 1200’ “Extend-A-Reels.” An Extend-A-Reel is a large capacity 8mm reel with a 16mm type reel hub. Stored for years in a climate-controlled environment.
