  • Beschreibung: Rechts oben oberhalb der Darstellung auf Platte nummeriert "5." Romantische Szene eines Herren, der sein Gesicht zu dem einer Dame herunterbeugt, um mit seiner Zigarre die ihre anzuzünden. Die Radierung stammt aus einem 1875 erschienenen Album mit 42 kleinformatigen Radierungen von Moritz von Schwind und Gedichten/Versen Ernst Freiherr von Feuchterslebens zum Thema "Rauchen" und "Trinken" (In vino veritas). Der erläuternde Text zu dieser Darstellung im Album lautet: "Wie die beiden sich geberden, wenn sie nur erst stille hält, wird's ein Kuss am Ende werden: Das ist so der Lauf der Welt. Nun bedenkt mir, eitle Narren, die an Raucherhass ihr krankt: Welches Glück man oft Cigarren, schwer entzündlichen, verdankt!"

  • Description: Numbered "5." on the plate at the upper right above the depiction. Romantic scene of a gentleman bending his face down to that of a lady to light hers with his cigar. The etching is from an album published in 1875 with 42 small-format etchings by Moritz von Schwind and poems/verses by Ernst Freiherr von Feuchtersleben on the subject of "smoking" and "drinking" (In vino veritas). The explanatory text for this depiction in the album reads: "How the two give themselves to each other, if only she first keeps still, it will be a kiss in the end: That is the way of the world. Now consider me, vain fools, who suffer from a hatred of smoking: what happiness one often owes to cigars, which are difficult to ignite!
