  • Beschreibung: Sorgsam gestaltete Votivkarte mit geprägtem Spitzenrahmen. In der Mitte die Darstellung der Schmerzensmutter, der Mater Dolorosa. Ihr von einem Schleier umgebenes Gesicht ist in Trauer versunken. Darunter zu lesen "Gütige Mutter, Bitte für die armen Seelen, betrübte Mutter, tröste sie!". Votivkarten oder Votivbilder, nicht selten kunstfertig gestaltet, sind Votivgaben und damit Gegenstände, die aufgrund eines Gelübdes bzw. einer Verlobung als Dankesgabe für Errettung aus Not, Gefahr, von Krankheit u.a. öffentlich dargebracht werden. Die kleinformatigen Votivkarten enthalten in den meisten Fällen ein kleines Andachtsbild und sind mit aufwändigem Zierwerk gestaltet.   • Description: Carefully designed votive card with embossed lace frame. In the centre the depiction of the Mother of Sorrows, the Mater Dolorosa. Her face, surrounded by a veil, is absorbed in sorrow. Underneath it reads "Kind Mother, pray for the poor souls, sorrowful Mother, comfort them!". Votive cards or votive pictures, not infrequently artistically designed, are votive offerings and thus objects that are publicly offered on the basis of a vow or betrothal as a thank-you gift for salvation from distress, danger, illness and the like. The small-format votive cards usually contain a small devotional picture and are designed with elaborate ornamentation.
