  • Beschreibung: betitelt (unleserlich). Dargestellt ist der schweizer Nationalhelden Wilhelm Tell mit seinem Sohn. Dieser ging als Freiheitskämpfer in die Geschichte ein, da er sich einst gegen den Habsburgischen Landvogt Herrmann Gessler aufgelehnt hatte. Dieser hatte von seinen Untertanen gefordert, eine Stange mit einem darauf befindlichen Hut zu grüßen, als sei es der Landvogt selbst. Wilhelm Tell lief zusammen mit seinem Sohn ungeachtet dieser Forderung an dem Stock vorbei und sollte zur Strafe dieser Missachtung einen Apfel vom Kopf seines Sohne mit Pfeil und Bogen schießen. Dieser Apfelschuss findet Einzug in zahlreiche Darstellungen und wird eng mit der Legende Tells verknüpft.

  • Description: titled (illegible). It depicts the Swiss national hero William Tell with his son. He went down in history as a freedom fighter because he had once rebelled against the Habsburg bailiff Herrmann Gessler. The latter had demanded that his subjects salute a pole with a hat on it as if it were the bailiff himself. William Tell and his son walked past the pole regardless of this demand and were told to shoot an apple from his son's head with a bow and arrow as punishment for this disregard. This apple shot finds its way into numerous depictions and is closely associated with the legend of Tell.
