You are bidding on a beautiful example of the Nikkor 105mm f2.5 medium telephoto lens. Originally designed for Nikon AI mount cameras, it can be mounted without modification on all of Nikon's SLRs and, when paired with an appropriate mount adapter, can also be used on digital SLRs from Canon, Olympus, Panasonic and Leica.

For most photography enthusiasts, the Nikon 105mm f2.5 will need no introduction. Ever since Nikon started making it, it's been a highly-regarded classic lens in the Nikon optical line-up, and continues to be, for many, the perfect balance of focal length, fast aperture, portability and dependable build quality. For many photographers, it's the ideal portrait lens too, particularly on full-frame or film, and it's reputation has only been consolidated by hauntingly beautiful images such as Steve McCurry's "Afghan Girl". The secret of the 105mm's success is in its blend of sharpness for detail, and the impressionistic, painterly way it transitions to an image's out-of-focus areas. Its colours, too, are saturated yet subtle, and lend a three-dimensionality to a wide range of subjects, from landscape details, to candid portraits, and even to monochrome images that appear more contrasty and punchier. Weighing just 435g, and measuring less than 8cm in length, the Nikon 105mm is wonderfully portable, and extremely discrete to use, unlike, say, a 70-200mm f2.8 zoom which can draw undue attention to the photographer.

As you can see from the photographs taken earlier this afternoon, the lens continues to be in excellent condition, exhibiting only light signs of use. Cosmetically, it continues to look very handsome. You'll find light scuffs on the metal barrel of the lens but h no significant scratches or dents to report; and mechanically and optically, the lens is faultless: optics are free of scratches, dirt, dust and fungus; aperture and focus rings are smooth, well-dampened and decisive; aperture blades are snappy and free of oil; and the mount is crisp and bright. The lens comes supplied with front/rear caps.

Good examples of the 105mm are increasingly hard to come by so, if you think you could benefit from this classic lens, don't hesitate to take this opportunity to invest in your photography today. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Happy bidding!
