For your consideration is an absolutely gorgeous vintage or antique jewelry display. I believe this is in the style of a Louis XV vitrine armoire - a full sized display cabinet that normally held glassware, which was miniaturized for the purposes of displaying jewelry or other nick-knacks! This heavy metal gold gilt jewelry box measures approximately 8.5" tall by 4.5" wide by 2.5" deep. It has two visible shelves lined in a maroon red velvet and one additional shelf you cannot see when the hatched door is closed. To open the box, you twist the metal knob on the back and it turns a small lever which allows the door to open. There are 4 feet supporting the jewelry box. There is no maker marks that I can see, so I am unsure who created this lovely piece. The "glass" on the inside appears to be some kind of synthetic material and so I'm not sure if that was original or has been replaced. There is some scratching to the clear material and indents in the velvet as well as wear to the gold gilding. It has not been polished or altered in any way and only a damp cloth was used to wipe down the dusty crevices. This jewelry presentation box is a rare find, a wonderful collectors item and a great gift idea.
