Rare Variety & High-end Quality!

1853 Arrows & Rays Seated Liberty Half Dollar

Doubled Die Reverse FS-802

PCGS XF45

So few of these have been certified that pricing is unavailable. A rare variety; just 11 have been certified by PCGS in all grades. And, sparse auction records that show little or no premium over the generic 1853 Arrows price are outliers. The varieties are virtually unknown; a pop 4/2 in XF45 means it will garner a strong premium, but they must be properly identified, described, and photographed. Our last example of FS-802 sold for $775 in XF40. Very nicely preserved warm pearly grey and golden, sparkling, lustrous surfaces. Extra sharp and minimally worn design elements. Much closer to AU than to XF, and so, a high-end piece. Bold doubling on HALF DOLLAR, lighter on UNITED, and slight doubling elsewhere. Later die states, such as this, show some interesting die cracks spider-webbing around on the obverse. A very important find for the Seated collector.
