Offered is a VERY RARE SEALED Original Walt Disney World Opening Day License Plate 1971 BLUE

An outstanding original Disney license plate souvenir offered only in 1970 to announce the opening of Walt Disney Wold in October 1971

Disney first began selling souvenir license plates in Florida because it was a state that did not require a front plate. This Walt Disney World plate was sold at the Preview Center from January 10, 1970 to September 30, 1971 (the year prior to the park opening). This plate proved to be a problem for Disney as it closely resembled the State of Florida's official license plate at the time.  Because of that, Disney was forced to withdraw the plate from sale, which is why this blue plate is so rare and sought after!  They later released a green one which is much more common.

This license plate is all metal and measures 12” x 6” and is standard license plate size. Conditions is excellent and it is still sealed in its factory plastic. NOTE: the plastic was pierced in the bolt holes likely so someone could hang this license plate on a wall and to use those holes, but the plastic is intact across the rest of the license plate. There is a very small nick on the upper white line above the letter D. Please see the photos for details.
