For sale is a superb vase made by Rozenburg in the early 20th century in 1905 if I read the date codes correctly. I always wanted to have one like this but never thought I would be lucky enough to find a perfect example! Rozenburg eggshell porcelain was only made from about 1900 until 1914 and is about as Art Nouveau as you can get! They were situated in The Hague , Holland's seat of government. The eggshell porcelain is amazingly thin and delicate unlike anything else you can find in the world of European porcelain though it is actually not true porcelain but a type of earthenware! The piece has a nice shape to it with a handle to each side and is hand painted with a superb floral design including a purple iris on each of the four sides. It was done in their typical style and includes the blossom as well as some greenery. It looks stunning! And as a bonus the vase is in perfect condition which is not common at all due to the thinness of the material. They are often chipped or have crack or hairlines. This one here is a rare survivor. It is marked underneath with the stamped Rozenburg Den Haag mark with the stork in the middle which is a bit hard to see plus the usual artist and year marks, etc. as shown. The window type mark and number 436 are the work order number and the artist mark is for S. Schellink I believe. The black crown is the year mark. The vase is 7.5 inches tall and about 2.635 inches wide and deep. Holland Jugendstil
