Up for sale is my 1987 Type 19 Mk2 Golf GTi 16v, 2 door, sunroof model.

I've resolved that I've too many other projects on and its likely going to be a number of years before I can even consider looking into getting it back on the road.

I’m willing to discuss serious offers. If you’re interested then please make the effort to come and view before making an offer.

I purchased the car in Nov 2006 when it was on 87k miles.

Once purchased I added the following
I then used it as a second, weekend car.

In 2016 the front and rear (lower sections - including the rear of the right sill) of right rear arch and the right side of the rear lower panel were showing signs of rust so I cut out and welded in new metal. I painted it in a garage in summer and achieved a good finish. the moulding on the rear right 1/4 was removed and wasn't refitted but is included in the sale. This can be seen in the images in the google album (link below). I then drove it a little while longer before taking it off the road in 2014. Its not been on the road since.

At some point I replaced the the drivers side seat back rest with a passenger side back rest. The foam in the original was shot and not comfy. The tilt hadle is now on the left side of the drivers seat. I have the original somewhere and this shall be included in the sale.

It's been kept under a car cover with a dehumidifier running inside.

As it is currently:
  • The battery is dead but it will turn over with another battery connected - but wont start. The fule pump isnt priming.
  • Rust at the lower, front of rear left rear arch and rear of the left sill.
  • Rust at the front, lower of both front arches.
  • Rust on the scuttle where it the centre wiper boss is.
  • Outer arch mouldings, inner front arch liners have been removed as I cleaned it thoroughly when I took it off the road. All the aforementioned shall be included in the sale.
The other areas that rust, around the filler and sunroof are all good, as can be seen in the photos (link below).

In short, I think it needs some welding, painting, a new cam belt and fixed fuel pump. The trim needs reattaching but don't believe it needs too much to get it back on the road.

It's available to view in South Derby at weekends.
