The Israel 1 Sheqel Banknote was issued by the Bank of Israel in 1978. It has hints of pink, purple, and brown. Its obverse features philanthropist Moshe Montefiore. It also shows the Mishkenot Sha’ananim quarter in Jerusalem and a windmill. The reverse displays the Jaffa Gate. The note contains a watermark that reveals Moshe Montefiore but does not have a security thread. It is 135 x 76 mm in size and is in circulated condition.
