Antique Old Sheffield Plate Bottle Coaster

Approximate dimensions: Height: 1.7" (42mm) Rim diameter: 5.9" (150mm)

Condition Good, with age and usage marks. Naturally tarnished.

This bottle coaster, an antique piece dating back to around 1800, is made of Old Sheffield Plate, a type of silver plating technique popular in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It is designed to hold wine or champagne bottles up to 120mm in diameter.

Characterised by an ornately decorated rim typical of the craftsmanship of the period, its base is crafted from turned wood with concentric rings for stability. A silver plated button adorns the centre for decoration.

Though unbranded by the maker, its quality and design reflect skilled craftsmanship of the era. The preserved tarnishing adds to its character, but can be polished away based on preference.
