This Windlass was fitted as original equipment on a Hallberg Rassy 36 in 1997. The boat came into my ownership last January and the windlass was used many times last summer in Scottish anchorages. I have replaced my chain with 8mm MF DAMS and have had to buy a new windlass with the correct calibration.
The Gipsy is calibrated for 10mm ISO chain only.
The drum may be operated independently of the gipsy. This may be useful for tightening in a mooring line etc.
