This is a **vintage utility OG-507 fatigue shirt that was issued and worn by a soldier serving in the United States Army infantry School, during the Vietnam War (circa mid-1970s).  Founded in 1918, the school is to this day, still located at Fort Benning, Georgia and is dedicated to training infantrymen for active service in the United States Army.

During the Vietnam war effort, the school would have been pivotal in training infantry soldiers of all kinds, offering them the necessary training required to be active combatants.  One such course, the Ranger course helped develop combat skills of selected officers and enlisted men by requiring them to perform effectively as small unit leaders in a realistic tactical environment, under mental and physical stress approaching that found in actual combat.

Emphasis is placed on the development of individual combat skills and abilities through the application of the principles of leadership while further developing military skills in the planning and conduct of dismounted infantry, airborne, airmobile, and amphibious independent squad and platoon-size operations. Graduates would return to their units to pass on these skills to others.

As a lot of infantry men were inserted into military objectives by way of parachute, the Airborne course was also a necessary requisite for a lot of infantry men during the Vietnam War. This uniform bears the distinctive Unit insignia "Follow Me" and Airborne Patch at the top of the left arm sleeve,  and the name patch and US Army patch remains in tact.
