The Padilla Sisters (known in English as Andrew Sisters of Mexican Music) was the name of one of the most famous musical duets between the 1930s and 1940s in the Mexican-American music scene. The duet was made up of the lead singer Margarita Padilla Mora, born in 1918, and her younger sister, María Padilla Mora, who was born two years later. Both sisters were born in the town of Tanhuato in the western state of Michoacán, near the border with Jalisco, considered the birthplace of mariachi.1

Arrival in the United States
The family came to Los Angeles in the 1920s, during a time of intense government persecution of the Catholic Church for the abuses and excesses it committed that led to the Cristeros rebellion. As devout Catholics, the Padilla girls' parents decided to flee to the other side of the border after being threatened for having protected priests.1

Settled in Los Angeles, the Padilla, Margarita and María Sisters set the standards for their style of singing boleros and rancheras, becoming among the first artists to have international success as they emerged from the Mexican-American music scene in South America. California. The Padilla sisters were also the first female vocal duet from the United States to have great success on both sides of the border, influencing a generation of similar duets that gained much popularity among Mexican and Mexican-American audiences in the mid-20th century. .1

A Quick NOTE ON GRADING AND SHIPPING:

As you can see from my feedback, I try hard to earn your POSITIVE FEEDBACK and FIVE STAR RATINGS.

If for any reason your transaction was NOT SATISFACTORY, pls contact me and I will work something out with you. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A REASON TO GIVE ME A NEGATIVE RATING or a LOW STAR RATING.

Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET" is close to noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an above average quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example with some noise.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.

Multiple item shipping: I am happy to combine items for shipment in one parcel.

Records will be packed safely between corrugated cardboard in a sturdy box with plenty of padding for safe shipment.

As always, I guarantee your satisfaction. If you don't like the item, just return it, and I will refund the full purchase price.
