Presented is a fantastic quality antique sterling silver child's bowl, dated 1882 and made by Dominick & Haff. This bowl is a wonderful Aesthetic Movement piece featuring a hand hammered texture to the silver, which catches the light very appealingly. Around the sides are skillfully hand chased scenes of a boy and girl playing, a rousing game of hoop-and-stick, and a boy with a trumpet seated against a fence. All the scenes are charmingly detailed and well done, surrounded by grass and plants again in the Aesthetic Movement style of the time. The interior of the bowl has a gold wash. The underside has a presentation reading “Grenville, from his godfather H. Walter Webb, Feb. 24, 1883.”

The underside of the piece is stamped with the maker's mark for Dominick & Haff as well as sterling, the date 1882, and a product or other number of 32.

This piece is in excellent overall condition. There is one very minor dent a little to the left of child's hat, shown in the tenth photograph. This is very hard to notice, especially considering the hand hammered texture of the piece. There are no splits, no other dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The bowl measures about 4 3/4 inches in diameter and stands about 2 3/8 inches tall at the rim.

This piece weighs 255 grams or 9 regular ounces.
