For sale is a plate most likely made by Gotha around 1860. Gotha is probably the best of the Thuringia makers in terms of quality of the paste and painting. They existed from 1757 until 1937 in one form or another. An odd but typical identifier for Gotha plate is that second foot ring in the center of the plate that I don't think any other maker used on small plates. So I am confident it was made by them. The plate is hand painted with a scene covering the entire well of the plate surrounded by a thick gold band, then a very thin gold ring, another ring that is a little bit wider and then a gold trim to the edge. The scene is of the famous city of Heidelberg in Germany. It includes the Karl Theodor Bridge aka the Old Bridge in the background which is an arch bridge that crosses the Neckar
