- Fun Fact: It can take 5 million years for Opal to form. Opal can be synthetic and lab created. However, it will be free of the natural inclusions, which are present from the natural Earthly process. - another reason to love Dendrites! In Jewelry, there is a process called "doublet" - where a slice of nice Opal is glued or set upon an inferior grade stone. Only the authentic Opal can be seen when viewed in the setting (such as a ring, etc). In most cases, the owner will be unaware, unless they have the entire Opal authenticated and not just the surface area that is seen. Opal has a rich history and is a diverse specimen. Being Amorphous, it comes in a variety of shapes, styles and colors. It's amazing! Opal has even been found on Mars (giving indication of water - as Opal needs water for its creation).
