This is a very unusual antique piece of Royal memorabilia in the form of a jewellery box. Made between the betrothal of Queen Victoria and Albert in October 1839 and their marriage in 1840 it uses the words ‘the future King and Queen of England’. It is possibly Belgian in origin. Interestingly Albert was never known as King but as Price Albert. The box is wood with a printed veneer . There is a hand tinted image of Victoria and Albert and other images around the box. The box is lined with paper. The lock is missing, the hinge have repairs, the inside paper is torn and there is wear at the edges.
