Product introduction

Brilliant and profound.

Takahiro Sonoda, a treasure of Japanese piano music history

Romantic piano collection

This year marks 20 years since Takahiro Sonoda's death. The valuable legacy sound source of this man, who was a great contributor to the Japanese piano world as well as a virtuoso pianist, has been compiled into a box under the supervision of his widow, Haruko Sonoda. This time, it's a collection of Romantic composers, and it's a great listen.

The highlight is the first CD version of Schumann's ''Kreisleriana'' and ''Kinderszenen.'' It was recorded in September 1982 with production by Shohachiro Aizawa and released as an LP on the Adam Ace label, but since then the master tape's whereabouts have been unknown and it has not been possible to make it into a CD. I recently discovered the original master, and now it has been revived with the latest remastering. The recording was made at a church in Shimoigusa, but since it was recorded late at night in September, it is interesting to see if you can even hear the faint sounds of insects in the quiet area.

Being able to enjoy major piano pieces by Chopin, Schumann, and Brahms with Sonoda's masterful artistry is the ultimate in luxury. You will be immersed in the strong pianism and deep musicality with no ambiguity. It is also valuable that the bonus disc contains the concert live at Suntory Hall held on September 23, 1998 to commemorate his 70th birthday. You can enjoy the mature mastery.

The commentary is basically written by Sonoda himself. Chopin's theory is worth reading and gives you a sense of the depth of his commitment. Now available at an amazing price. This is a great piece of musical heritage that every household should have at least one set.
