When I think of the original punk rock bands, I think of The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Damned, and The Clash. There are many more NY bands that were punk, in the early days, like New York Dolls, Television, MC5, The Stooges, Patti Smith, and even Blondie and The Talking Heads, among several others. British punks The Clash may have been one of the most successful (if not THE most successful) of all the punk bands that began in the 70s...

They started in 1976, and incorporated different types of music into their own style, such as dub, ska, funk, pop, and rockabilly. The Clash released their influential landmark album called 'London Calling' in 1979, FORTY FIVE years ago. That album gave us the hits "London Calling" and "Train in Vain", which was the first Clash song I remember hearing on the radio. The cover used lettering and colors similar to the first Elvis Presley album. Elvis is on the cover of his album, strumming an acoustic guitar, but here, The Clash's bass player Paul Simonon is getting ready to smash his bass guitar. And that's pretty much where the similarities end!

In 1982, The Clash released what turned out to be their most successful album of all time, titled 'Combat Rock'. That album gave us the hits "Rock the Casbah" and "Should I Stay or Should I Go", both of which are still played on classic rock radio. Although 'London Calling' moved over a million copies (in the US alone), 'Combat Rock' sold over TWO million copies. The Clash became rock radio and MTV darlings!

In today's rockin' good deal, you'll get the rare and ULTRA limited edition camouflage colored vinyl picture disc for 'Combat Rock', the THREE disc deluxe edition of 'London Calling', plus a British rock magazine titled 'Uncut', with The Clash on the cover!

The picture disc looks a little rough, with several light scratches and marks on it. One side is worse than the other. Could have been hung on someone's bare wall, perhaps. (I usually don't know the origins of a lot of the vinyl I buy.) But this would look great in a frame, and hanging up on display. Unfortunately, the original clear PVC jacket with hype sticker and track listing is no longer available. A really awesome and extremely scarce Clash collectible!

The three disc set for 'London Calling' has the original remastered album on the first disc, and a second disc called 'The Vanilla Tapes', which is previously unheard rehearsal sessions, (including five new songs)! The last disc is a DVD, with a 30 minute documentary on the making of this album, promo videos, and unseen home video footage. All three discs looks great, with only a couple of very light surface marks on each one. Nothing bad, or that will affect play. The digipak case looks great, but the outer clear plastic slipcover is yellowing a little. Looks slightly vintage, on purpose! Released TWENTY years ago, in 2004.

Last, we have the October 2010 issue of 'Uncut' magazine, with The Clash on the cover! (It's the classic lineup of Mick Jones, Topper Headon, Paul Simonon, and Joe Strummer.) A really cool cover story! Mag is in great shape, and has no rips or tears, no pages dog-eared, or handwriting anywhere on it. A sweet companion piece to this awesome deal! I'll send the deluxe CD set separately, (and I'll pay for the shipping). Just pay for the shipping of the picture disc and magazine.

(RIP Joe Strummer. You were the co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist, and singer for one of the most important, influential, and coolest punk bands in history. You are still missed, all these years later!)

Bring home some classic Clash music (on vinyl, on CDs, and a DVD), plus a UK mag from fourteen years ago, with a cover story about the Clash's album 'Sandinista!', and the impact that LP has had on rock history. Make this sweet Clash bundle yours today!
