Issued by the British Royal Mint, the 2024 Lion and Eagle is the first coin to feature the national animals of both countries in the same design. The coin represents the special relationship and values shared by both countries for over three centuries.

Since the 18th century, The Majestic bald eagle has been a symbol of American strength, freedom and patriotism.  In heraldry, the Lion of England represents power, fortitude, and nobility. Various designs of the Lion have graced the British coat of arms since the 15th century.

The stunning image on the reverse was designed by US Mint Chief engraver John Mercanti. Having designed more than 100 coins during his career, he's best known for designing the heraldic eagle that has graced the reverse of the type 1 American Silver Eagle.

The obverse features the King's first official portrait designed by famed British sculptor Martin Jennings. In keeping with tradition, the King faces to the left, opposite the direction of the Queen. Approved by the king himself, it captures him with a stoic impression.

The 2024 British Lion & Eagle coin is struck in 1 troy oz of .9999 fine silver with a beautiful luster. Direct from the mint, each coin arrives in remarkable condition, housed in a new, direct-fit airtite capsule.
