Letters Home To Mother from Gallipoli and Beyond edited by Doug Anthony and Margot Anthony

Doug Anthony wanted to be a farmer but became Deputy Prime Minister of Australia. He is the son of Sapper Hubert Anthony whose letters and diary form the basis of this book. Hubert Anthony joined the AIF at 17 years of age. Due to his prior occupation in the PMG he was allotted to the 2nd Signal Troop 2nd Light Horse Brigade.

He went with the unit to Gallipoli until he was evacuated due to illness on 11 August 1915. He was repatriated back to Australia medically unfit on 24 June 1916 and discharged on 4 October 1916.
