Original WW2 German K98 cupped buttplate.
Overall the buttplate is in good used condition; the finish is in the white with some evidence of light spots of surface oxidation from long term storage.
The front of the buttplate looks to have been scrubbed to be renumbered to rifle "987".
The makers mark code is still visible on the rear "gqm 44" for Loch u. Hartenberger, Idar-Oberstein in 1944.
Very hard to find a wartime buttplate nowadays.
Thanks for looking.
