This is a Scunthorpe ammonite (Aegasteroceras sp) which has been beautifully prepared. It is a good sized specimen with good colour, detail and calcite preservation. There is also shells in the surrounding matrix (see pictures). Its an amazing display piece due to its rarity. It was collected many years ago from the Frodingham Ironstone, Connesby Quarry, Scunthorpe, UK.

Size of specimen measures approx 18cm x 17cm x 4cm, with the ammonite itself approx 5.2cm in diameter.
