Presented is a fine old Sheffield silver plate desk set. This set dates to around the 1780s-1790s. The set consists of three glass bottles with silver plated mountings, on a silver plated tray. The bottles are nice thick glass, with cut designs around the sides. The tray has beautiful gadrooned and foliate designs, with a shell motif at the four cardinal points. The tray stands on four handsome claw and ball form feet. One of the bottles has a pierced lid for use as a sander, one has a solid lid, and one has a hole in the center.

The desk set is in great overall condition. The glass bottles have a few nicks and fleabites here and there, but nothing of any consequence. The silver plating is in good overall shape, but there is some wear through to the copper on the highest points of the designs. The lid to one of the bottles has some wear through and a hole in the center, visible in the first and second photo.

Each of the bottles is about 2 inches tall. The tray is about 9 1/2 inches from end to end
