For sale is a figurine of a lion cub made by the Schwarzburger Werkstätten around 1930. It is standing on his hind paws with his front paws out as if ready to slap his brother / sister in some playful fighting. It was probably designed by Etha Richter who was one of the most important animal modelers of the Jugendstil / Art Deco period. Nice simple base with the tail of the lion wrapping around part of the edge. Again a very simple figurine yet so elegant. That is why these figurines are so collectable. The figure is in perfect condition. It is marked with the impressed fox mark as well as U. 1098. underneath. Also the impressed stamp Schwarzburger Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst. All the stamps are hard to make out but they are there. The piece is 6.375 inches tall, 4 inches wide and 3 inches deep. 20thC 20th century German Germany Löwe antique
