Epithelantha petrii (pink cinnamon spines, green flower bud, yellow pink flowers) MK 26.73 Villa Real (Viesca) Coahuila Mexico.

E. Petrii is a miniature cactus native to the deserts of Arizona, Texas and Mexico. These cacti can survive below freezing temperatures as long as they remain perfectly dry.

E. Petrii is a rare and special cactus which is slow-growing and difficult to care for when grown on its own roots. The blooms are large in comparison to the size of the plant and pastel pink or yellow in colour. It requires a cool dormancy period to encourage flowering for the following year.

These specimen are artificially propagated from conserved seed and grafted onto myrtillocactus geometrizans rootstock.

Approximate size 3cm.

Pot up in a cactus compost with added grit or a soilless substrate such as a specialist bonsai mix. It love love loves the sun but isn't keen on heat so watch out for sunburn in the summer months; some light shading during the hottest part of the day is a good idea.

Water only when the potting mix is dry. If there's one thing succulents hate it's wet feet. They're very prone to stem rot and it can happen very quickly! Avoid letting water sit in the pot because this will cause it to rot away.

The key to successful succs is lots and lots of light, less and less water. Keep that in mind always and your plants will reward you with colours that POP.
