The fishtail parka was first introduced in 1951 to keep personnel warm during the harsh winters of the Korean War, but would continue to soldier on for decades afterwards, issued to troops for Arctic warfare training and similar postings.  While not exactly the height of military cold weather gear any more, these fishtail parkas are more famous as a fashion statement, particularly for the Mod subculture.

Later examples, like this one, are made from a lighter weight, yet no less windproof 80/20 Cotton/Nylon blend for the shell and feature internal buttons to attach a quilted liner for insulation (NOT INCLUDED).  The lighter material means that they would be comfortable to wear out on the town while still keeping the classic M51 fishtail parka silhouette.  The M-1951 ECW shell in this listing is in excellent condition for its age and in the rare LARGE size, meaning it should fit modern wearers and have plenty of room for layering underneath.  It is dated to 1980.  The only minor flaw is that the tag has come loose, but it can easily be re-stitched back on, or simply worn as-is since it is invisible on the outside.
