In the interests of safety:
The machine has been electrically ‘Pats’ tested’ (by a qualified electrician).
Faulty or suspect components have been replaced.
The service work has been carried out by a qualified audio engineer using a variety of test equipment including an oscilloscope, sine wave generator, test tapes, tension gauges and industry standard R.T.S./A.T.U. test set etc.
Operational Performance:
The machine has been set up utilising the industry standard ‘MRL’ 233-352-482-1F0 reproducer calibration tape and the working set-up with the tape as indicated on the stage II service report. Whilst the machine is in the record mode switching between source input and tape output using new or good quality tape of the type used to calibrate as stated in the service report we guarantee there will be little or no variation in sound quality or level to the recorded signal at either 1KHZ or 10KHZ utilising a test tone or music as a source input. Whilst not claiming this machine would not benefit still further from ‘a specialist technician tweak/re-calibration’ for attaining desirable or further absolute fine tuning (bias/eq setup), desirable where tape of a buyers choice is used, there is little else required to enhance the quality of the sound in our opinion. It is difficult to hear how any significant improvement in performance could be achieved. That said the machine being vintage and used will not perform as a new machine, neither could it be classed as in 'concours' cosmetic condition and we do not offer it for sale claiming it will. It will be subject to some fair wear and tear on all mechanical and associated components and fittings even though the unit has had a thorough service so please bear this in mind. Small variations and fluctuations in performance may also differ from the Manufactures original specification if analysed. We would be surprised if any listener other than one with unreasonable expectation or the most critically acclaimed hearing should find fault with the sound characteristics or operational performance of the machine whilst using the specified tape media.
Technical info:
Capstan speed has been locked as per Revox service manual to 800cps @ low speed as measured with an oscilloscope, VU meters have also been calibrated to show 0db at 0.775V input. Record levels have been calibrated so that source input and tape output are equal and balanced on both channels. All lamps – sensors – switch contacts and both V.U. meters have been tested and are fully operational. ‘Wow and flutter’ has been measured and recorded and is within the accepted figures as detailed in the service manual specification. Head azimuth has been checked and adjusted for maximum coarse and fine performance. All associated mechanical checks including appropriate cleaning and lubrication to bearings, guides motors etc. where appropriate, have also been completed. The heads have of course undergone the standard degaussing and final clean.
Cosmetic Condition:
Cosmetically fair wear and tear will be evident. Our main aim is to sell you a machine that sounds and performs good which after all is the machines primary function. That said if we were purchasing this machine ourselves, cosmetically we would describe it as ‘good’ but still of course ‘used’ vintage condition. The cabinet surround is in the main good with maybe minor marks/chips to the rear wood veneer/etc. associated with 'the fair wear and tear for a vintage machine'. There may of course be some other minor normal ‘wear and tear’ scratches/wear marks and evidence of minor repairs to any or all areas of the unit and of course the reels but only those we would reasonably expect with a used vintage machine of this age and type. We can't list every possible scratch or blemish so please bear this in mind when considering your purchase.
With our pictures we try to show the machine from all angles so we trust you would agree they are typically reflective of the condition with nothing deliberately hidden or omitted, so to gauge the overall condition please use these as your initial reference point. Please remember pictures can only show so much so if you are in any doubt, please where possible view the item in person, or at least request further clarification or additional specific area pictures, prior to committing to your purchase thus avoiding any possible misunderstanding or time wasting, to either buyer or seller.
General Condition:
Overall we consider this is a very nice example of an A77 (2) track machine. As stated our aim is to sell machines that sound good and operate as designed. The heads show low wear so lots of life still left to faithfully reproduce that warm analogue sound so distinctive to the Revox range. To our knowledge everything works as designed, with no major electronic or mechanical defects to report.
Package Content:
The machine comes with free used 10½" Revox reels in Library cases (with used tape). The reels, cases and tape supplied are a freebie when the machine is purchased. They are used, therefore they will be of varying quality and make. The tape is useful only to get the buyer up and working. That said the tape supplied will be free from S.S.S. and be capable of basic music/speech recording. For absolute best results we recommend new or known good quality used tape of the type indicated in the service report is used by the buyer. Should the buyer require any help in securing any such tape we will be happy to help. Included is a modern type 3 pin mains power lead which has been suitably fused. There is a tape head cleaning kit, a microphone and input/output audio leads, so there is everything supplied, the buyer needs to at least get started with the machine without the need for immediate additional purchases. A completed Quality/Calibration check list is also issued. As a bonus, also included free is a cd PDF of the operation and service instructions which should prove useful for the buyers perusal or for any future reference point.
Payment Packaging and Delivery:
Payment terms are either cash on collection with Ebay collection code or through the Ebay accepted payment methods with delivery via Courier arranged by the seller. As sellers are required to provide Courier tracking proof for items purchased through their payment service, buyers therefore cannot pay with Paypal etc. and then decide the want to collect the item in person without producing the collection 6 digit code No. they can get from Ebay should they wish collection in person. We regret we are unable to release the item without this code so please be aware of this.
Payment must be made within two days. The unit will be shipped by a Courier arranged by us with full tracking info submitted. This ensures that the buyer and seller are covered by Ebay/Paypal rules. The high price of shipping within the U.K. is partially reflective of the weight of the unit but the price is also inclusive of a high standard of secure packaging (necessary for items of this type) and the relevant costs of adequate insurance cover and the cost of a reliable trusted courier service. Please note any late delivery by the Courier is not directly controlled by us. The postage cost shown covers all mainland England but excludes delivery to off shore loctions, remote locations, the Scottish highlands etc. There may be an increase in delivery costs for these areas so if a buyer is in any doubt please confirm delivery charges prior to purchase. Please note as Ebay now handle and manage payments, so sellers no longer receive instant funds as such there will be a delay to allow time for funds to reach sellers. The A77 MK III (2) track machine is a quality machine with a proven record on performance and reliability. The low head wear, good overall condition & setup makes for a very desirable machine indeed. If you are seeking a good clean working example and one that will operate without issue or excuse when unpacked, then this machine should easily meet your requirements. We include a 60 day warranty on the unit should we have overlooked something or if any problem should occur so you can have peace of mind we are there for backup. If you are seriously interested in experiencing great real tape quality reproduction, make sure the machine you choose has been set up and calibrated, as a reel to reel without such set up will disappoint and may cost more in the long run if you have calibration work done by a specialist. Such is our confidence in this fieeld and of course the renowned quality build of all Revox products we would expect that this machine should perform as the item description for many years to come providing the heads are kept clean and tape of the type the machine has been calibrated to is used. There is a limited labour only warranty offered, as detailed below. The REVOX is sold as NO REFUNDS OR *RETURNS (*other than for repairs within the warranty period). Our description is quite conclusive and 100% honest (check our feedback) but it is objective. A buyer's subjective opinion may differ, so please ask all your questions and where possible VIEW BEFORE BUYING. Please be aware the machine is not new so please be realistic, any concerns ASK A QUESTION. Reading the description and looking at the images assumes the potential buyer agrees with this or requests a demonstration or viewing prior to purchase.
This item is sold under the UK legality of CAVEAT EMPTOR, it is up to the buyer to decide if this machine meets with their approval. The decision to buy should be based on assumptions of the facts as detailed and the offer of sale is based on this.

The item you receive will match the description we give and will be free of major defects or repaired labour free within the warranty period. As components of a vintage machine cannot be guaranteed all replacement parts costs are excluded and will be charged to the Customer where necessary. In the event the item proves faulty within the 60 day warranty period the buyer agrees to return it for examination and repair and not try to withdraw from the terms of the sale until we have had an opportunity to address the issue(s). In most instances we will repay (a mutually agreed value) for any buyer incurred courier charges with regards to any return transportation costs but this will not apply to where no reported defect can be found. The warranty covers all labour charges but excludes the cost of replacement parts. Please note and be aware we are a private not a business seller and as such we are not obliged to accept returns where a buyer has simply changed his/her mind on the purchase or for ‘buyer’s remorse’ or 'items not as expected'.
Note: We are a private seller and as such we do not accept returns except for the purpose of warranty covered defect repairs. The buyer in these such instances arranges return of the item to us for inspection/repair. The buyer agrees to accept our terms by participating in this sale
Any returns for repairs must be made within the warranty period, and please note that return postage is NOT refundable unless it is clear following our inspection that any error/defect found was mistakenly caused by us and should this prove to be the case the machine will be repaired or replaced and returned to the buyer (A mutually agreed (by both parties) return shipping charge incurred by the buyer will be reimbursed in this instance) but only following our own inspection and providing the defect is not due to fair wear and tear associated with a vintage machine.The cost of any parts that fail in the warranty period are not covered under warranty but the labour element of replacing any failed parts is included free of charge on a buyer return machine basis.
The costs associated with any repairs or alterations carried out by the buyer or any 3rd. party without our consent or knowledge is solely the responsibility of the buyer
