Santa Cruz Blur Classic Retro Full Suspension MTB Frame And Fox RP23 Size Medium

The Blur is a modern classic. It was the bike that really put Santa Cruz on the map with its VPP rear suspension providing 115mm of rear travel. It was generally coupled with a 100mm fork but the Fox Talas with up to 120mm was also a popular option and the fork I used on my Blur between 2004 and 2007.

It’s still the biggest step change I’ve ever experienced in bike performance. It blew me away with what it would ride over at speed, how much climbing traction it had and how much fun it was to ride. I rode it constantly for 4 weeks in British Columbia. I also rode it in Marin County, Moab, New Zealand and raced to several Xterra off road triathlon Podiums, and at the Word Champs.

This is not that bike but it is very similar.

It’s in excellent cosmetic condition with amazing Iridescent blue paint which is deep and shiny with zero scruffs and scratches. The decals are original and the ones in the down tube are reflective. Again they are excellent.

The frame has no dents or cracks though some if the bearings may need replacing soon as there is a small amount of play in some of them. This is an easy job. You can buy the bearings independently or as a kit from Santa Cruz. There is a tool available on eBay for under £30. You can find all details about the frame and spare parts here: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-GB/bike/blur/1-classic

The shock has been upgraded to a top of the range Fox RP23 which had been serviced at some point by TF Tuned who also upgraded it with a Push kit. If you are going to ride it hard I’d recommend another service at the same time as replacing the bearings.

It’s a size medium. The geo chart is in the above link but here are the measurements I’ve taken:

- Seat tube centre to centre: 40cm

- Seat tube centre to top: 45.5cm

- Top tube actual centre to centre: 54.5cm

- Top tube effective horizontal centre to centre: 57.5cm

- Head tube end to end: 11cm

- Seatpost diameter: 30.9mm

- BSA bottom bracket

- Headset diameter: 1 1/8”

- Rear axle sieving: 135mm

- Front mech clamp diameter: 34.9, top pull

Can be used with V-brakes but the speed you’ll be going, I’d recommend Discs.

Will be carefully packed with each tube wrapped in new foam pipe lagging and sent via Parcel Force 48 insured to value. I’m happy to ship overseas using eBay GSP which is an excellent and reasonably priced service once you take in to account the inclusion of import fees and duties.

The price is quite high, but it reflects the stunning plaint and excellent condition. Any questions please ask.
