Santa Cruz Blur Classic Medium Frame Fox RP23.

The Blur is a modern classic. It was the bike that really put Santa Cruz on the map with its VPP rear suspension providing 115mm of rear travel. It was generally coupled with a 100mm fork but the Fox Talas with up to 120mm was also a popular option and the fork I used on my Blur between 2004 and 2007.

It’s still the biggest step change I’ve ever experienced in bike performance. It blew me away with what it would ride over at speed, how much climbing traction it had and how much fun it was to ride. I rode it constantly for 4 weeks in British Columbia. I also rode it in Marin County, Moab, New Zealand and raced to several Xterra off road triathlon Podiums, and at the Word Champs.

This is not that bike but it is very similar.

It’s in excellent cosmetic condition with deep, shiny paint and a few chips and marks here and there but nothing significant and certainly no dents or cracks.

I’ve removed the decals with the plan of replacing them but then I thought I’d let the buyer choose their own colour. They were originally black but white would look cool and I think silver could be best. They are readily available.

The new owner will need also to replace the majority of the bearings as there is some play. This is an easy job. You can but there’s bearings independently or as a kit from Santa Cruz. There is a tool available in eBay fir under £30. You can find all details about the frame and spare parts here: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-GB/bike/blur/1-classic

The shock has been upgraded to a top

Of the range Fox RP23 which had been serviced at some point by TF Tuned. If you are going to ride it hard I’d recommend another service at the same time as replacing the bearings.

It’s a size medium. The geo chart is in the above link but here are the measurements I’ve taken:

- Seat tube centre to centre: 40cm

- Seat tube centre to top: 45.5cm

- Top tube actual centre to centre: 54.5cm

- Top tube effective horizontal centre to centre: 57.5cm

- Head tube end to end: 11cm

- Seatpost diameter: 30.9mm

- BSA bottom bracket

- Headset diameter: 1 1/8”

- Rear axle sieving: 135mm

- Front mech clamp diameter: 34.9, top pull

Can be used with V-brakes but the speed you’ll be going, I’d recommend Discs.

Will be carefully packed and sent via Parcel Force 48 insured to value.
