 An adventurous launching. The English aircraft carrier "Formidable" which was about to be launched in Belfast, got underway before the "start", threatened to tip over on its side and finally slipped into the sea, overturning and throwing into the air the timber that was holding it.The wreckage of the scaffolding fell into the crowd, killing a woman and injuring twenty people

 Human chess . A chess game with living pieces on a colossal board was organized outdoors at the Dopolvore in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The players sat on a ladder at the ends of the field and the "pieces" (kings, queens, rooks, bishops, etc.) patiently awaited the order to move.
