Observe Description: Liberty facing left, hair in a Phrygian cap, and the word "LIBERTY" inscribed on a ribbon or band holding a spray of leaves and sheaves. "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (Latin for "out of many, one") inscribed on top edge of coin with 7 stars to the left and 6 starts to the right. Minted year (1880) is inscribed on bottom of coin. Denticle design elements on all edges.

Reverse Description: Eagle with wings spread holding a branch and 3 arrows. "IN GOD WE TRUST" appears in traditional font above eagle. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is inscribed on top of coin, and "ONE DOLLAR" is inscribed on bottom of coin.
