Hard to find early or original(?) printing of Cap’n Platt.  Written by Mrs. Tillie Johnson.  32 page booklet.  No date, but early 1900’s? The front cover is no longer attached. The back cover is torn.  Both covers are fragile/brittle.  Both covers are stained.  There are small fold marks in the corner of many pages.

From the introduction, it was written by an author who was “one of the most devoted missionaries at Miller’s Ferry, Alabama.” The booklet offers a “true portrait of child life in the Black Belt of Alabama.”

I believe this may be related to the Millers Ferry Normal and Industrial School, a school operated by the United Presbyterian Church of North America.
