very scarce Shelley "Tree Pattern" (as earthenware pattern No 8577) bread tray. C.1924.

In the Shelley white ware catalogue this item is described as "a semi-porcelain round bread tray".

Tree pattern: Hand enamelled decoration of a black tree with coral, green, yellow and mauve stylised flowers. Black trim. 

The back stamp is the 1916-1925 green cartouche mark.

Dimensions: diameter 285mm (11.25 inches).

Condition: In good clean condition with no chips or cracks. Faint light crazing can be seen under closer scrutiny. Light surface wear and utensil marks commensurate with age. Occasional small paint losses to black trim. The bread tray has a good true sound to it when lightly tapped. A very rare find.
