Rotella, a professional skipper and successful lure maker, was born in Virginia Beach USA. After spending most of his youth in or around the water, it wasn't long before Shawn found himself in Hawaii, where he bought his first boat, "The Night Runner". Since then, Shawn has been improving his fishing credentials while benefiting from the opportunity to hone his lure designs in some of the best fishing grounds in the world.
Shawn has since shattered records in the Kona fleet, catching more trophy sailfish in Kona than all the other captains combined, and is the only Captain in 35 years to hold six of the top game fish spots in a single year. Rotella has also recorded one of the worlds top three largest blue marlin ever caught on 50lb tackle.

Our Ali Kai custom lures are handmade in small batches with colors to target marlin, yellowfin and bluefin tuna.
