Obverse features the seated figure of Lady Liberty. Reverse features denomination at the center, encircled within wreath. The capital letter “A” on the reverse, below the denomination and within the wreath, identifies the Paris mint. These silver coins were minted by the French, mostly in Paris, for use in trade in their Southeast Asian colonies. Their commercial purpose is underscored by the reverse legend, in which is engraved the coin’s weight of 2.7 grams, and its silver fineness of .9000.
