Selling a Monterey pine I collected in Pacifica next to San Francisco three years ago. The last picture is for reference to show what these trees can look like with some age.

I wired the tree and there are some wire marks.

Pines are forgiving for wire marks and this pine should outgrow the wire marks in 2 to 3 years.

Personally, I’m happy with the movement created in the trunk.

If you’re not familiar with Monterey Pine, they are profuse back budding pines that generally like warm moist environments.

They grow along the coast where it’s foggy during the summer.

They will tolerate heat and direct sun But you should probably water this pine slightly more than other pines.

They definitely don’t like the roots, soaking wet but live in foggy environment.

It’s a three needle pine, and some people claim that these are two flush pines.

Personally, I find that they push buds evenly throughout the growing season without strong spurts of growth.

These are generally very forgiving trees and look better when they’re thinned out.

The tree comes in a hexagon round ceramic bonsai pot.

The roots are slightly exposed. If you don’t care for that, then you can cover them up with soil when you repot.

This tree has been in this pot for two years and it should probably be repotted next spring.

These trees grow fairly aggressively.

If you want the tree to get larger, I suggest you put it in a larger pot and give it lots of fertilizer.

If you want to maintain the current size, then this is a good pot for the tree.

The tree is planted in standard bonsai soil.

At this point there is definitely some organic matter left from collection and what’s built up overtime.

Personally, I fertilize with bio gold, Osmacote as well as iron.

It’s been an enjoyable tree to own and develop.

I simply have too many trees so I am clearing out some of them to make room.

Feel free to message me if you have questions.

I typically ship on Mondays.

Most likely I’ll send the tree on the Monday after the sale.

Thank you for your consideration,
