Approximate dimensions:

Condition Good with marks indicative of both age and usage.

The Olde Hall Teapot is a functional vessel made from stainless steel, standing at 172mm tall with a capacity of 2½ pints. Crafted with a composite or plastic handle securely fastened to the body, this teapot boasts a lid with a small finial, all adorned with a hammered pattern decoration.

Its swan-necked spout, featuring an internal filter, ensures smooth pouring, while the branding "Firth Staybrite" on the underside signifies its construction from 18/8 stainless steel, consisting of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This alloy, known as "Staybrite," was trademarked by Thomas Firth of Sheffield in 1924, pioneered by metallurgist Harry Brearley in 1913.

Originally registered as "Olde Hall" in 1922 for bathroom fittings, the company expanded to tableware in 1928, briefly rebranding as "Ye Olde Hall Quality" in 1934 before reverting to "Olde Hall" in 1935 due to trademark issues. Later, in 1959, the company adopted the name "Old Hall" until its closure in 1984.

This teapot bears marks of age and usage, adding to its authenticity and historical charm. It not only serves its practical purpose but also embodies a significant period in metallurgical and branding history.
