Fine with marks indicative of both age and usage. Heavily naturally tarnished. We have left the tarnishing on. You may wish to polish this away depending upon preference. A test polish shown in picture six shows the likelihood of plate loss below the tarnish.

This ornate antique 6-slice slot toast rack, crafted from silver-plated metal, hails from the late 19th to early 20th centuries when such items were commonplace on breakfast tables.

Designed to hold slices of toast upright for cooling, its six slots and top handle facilitated easy serving and transport. Typically made from silver-plated brass or copper, this rack exhibits Victorian or Edwardian craftsmanship, featuring intricate designs and attention to detail.

Standing on four paw-shaped feet, it adds decorative charm to any table setting. While its natural tarnish may appeal to collectors seeking an antique patina, others may opt to polish it for a shinier look, though this could result in further plate loss.

In sum, this toast rack offers insight into dining customs of yesteryears, characterised by its elegant design and functional appeal.
