Ireland 1954 1/3 airmail "extra feather" variety, Scott C6 Hib A6a VF used

This is the 1/ 3 airmail stamp from Ireland. It exhibits the "extra feather" variety on the top edge of the wing. This is a scarce, non-constant variety that is found in position 4/6 on some sheets. It shows a horizontal bar of color on the top edge of the wing, as shown in the scan. It is the scarcest variety of the airmail stamps of Ireland and is listed in the Hibernian Catalogue as A6a with a value, for a used example, of €450.00 (mint is €800.00). This is the only example I have personally seen. It has a Gaillimh 2 (Galway) CDS cancel dated 27 July 1956.
