This antique compote is a silver-plated footed dish manufactured by the Hartford Silver Plate Company, based in Hartford, Connecticut, in the late 19th century. Specialising in electroplated holloware, the company was active from 1881 to 1893.

The compote measures approximately 170mm in diameter and stands 96mm tall. Its bowl features a 2cm wide rim adorned with intricate floral and foliage decorations, while the interior boasts larger floral motifs. Standing on a pedestal with a round-rimmed foot for stability, the underside bears markings indicating its origin and production details, including the branding of the Hartford Silver Plate Company and "quadruple plate."

Over time, the compote has acquired a natural tarnish, adding to its antique charm. While the tarnish has been left intact, it can be polished away according to preference.
