This is for an original set of 1962 Los Angeles Dodgers
Camera in the Clubhouse photos with the original envelope and intro card by Andy
Carey. 1962 would be Andy Carey’s final year in the majors, and as an avid photographer
and owner of his own portrait studio, he decided to bring his Polaroid Land
Camera to the clubhouse and take some photos as a gag to loosen up the
clubhouse. The team would end up winning the game so Andy continued taking
photos as the Dodgers started a winning streak. The Dodgers continued to win
and would end up tying the San Francisco Giants for the National League pennant
but would lose a three game playoff which put the Giants in the World Series
against the Yankees. At the end of the season, Life magazine would run a pictorial
featuring the best of Andy’s photos. 1963 would see the Dodgers sell a set of
20 of Andy’s photographs at the park with each having a description on the back
including the date the photo was taken. They
would be inside of an envelope entitled Camera in the Clubhouse and would
include the 20 5 x 7 photos and an introduction card written by Andy Carey.
Only 12 cards from this set have been graded by PSA and both feature Sandy
Koufax on the front. Probably the best Koufax card in the set, or even of all time, would be the June
13 card which features Sandy holding a group of bats while smoking a cigarette,
a side of Sandy no one ever gets to see. If you are a Sandy Koufax fan then
this is a great set for you. If you are a PSA fan, here is your chance to get
the entire set graded and have the “best of” 1962 Camera in the Clubhouse set as all of the photos are clean and like new. If
you are a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, than this is a must have as not too many of
these have survived over the years. Just try doing a search for information on
these and you will see how rare and scarce these actually are.
